Around the World 1st Birthday Party

In Birthdays on February 12, 2014 at 3:58 PM

I fell in love with an Around the World theme and it was perfect for this little tykes 1st Birthday!  Guests ages ranged from infants to Grandparents so we thought of some fun, creative ways to involve everyone.  Each child received their custom Passport to Fun complete with their photo and had a blast stamping all the pages.  Everyone enjoyed marking the map with where they were from with our custom flags, and we decorated with this amazing map bunting banner and smaller map bunting for the highchair and around the drink dispenser.  I also wrapped boxes of different sizes in maps to add different heights to our display table.

Cupcakes, Smash Cake and lots of other treats were enjoyed by all our guests, and the birthday boy, super happy!

Around the World 1st Birthday

This was by far, one of my favorite partys yet!  Around the World We Go!  There were so many ways to actual take this 1st Birthday Party.  But we stuck with a map theme, based on the decor for my little tykes room.  You may remember that other 1st Birthday Party  based on a nautical theme selected the same way.  I found inspiration for the map themed party online when I searched for “globe” invitations.  I customized and created the invitations, then created the map inserts for the envelopes and out they went!

For decor I searched high and low for vintage maps and globes, but came up empty handed.  So I found these teal round paper decorations at Party City, and used them to represent the globes at the party.  I cut the banners from maps and strung them with twine, and then wrapped some boxes in maps for height to display the cupcakes.  For games, I had a US Map and asked guests to flag where they were from!  I made customized passports for our child guests which doubled as their favors, complete with their own photos, and had stamps and pads available for them.

We kept the food simple with finger sandwiches, chips, popcorn, some candy, cake and cupcakes.  I made the cake and even ventured into using fondant for the first time.

I was so happy with the way the entire party came out!  This theme could work for any age party, an engagement or bridal shower, and I even saw it done for a baby shower.  Planning a travel themed party – let us help!

As a gift for expectant parents and friends, Amanda Jean Events assisted this Mommy to Be in planning a co-ed, Babypalooza themed shower.  Today, many baby celebrations involve the Daddy-to-be, which requires extra care in planning.  It was important for this event to determine what the Mommy and Daddy to be expected from the event and what traditional shower activities they would like to participate in.

Our hosts were celebrating the expected birth of their baby girl, so it was important to incorporate a feminine color scheme without making male guests feel uncomfortable.  This was achieved by using a pastel color scheme which incorporated pinks, yellows, blues and greens.   Guests were also able to enjoy stunning view of Miami Beach and enjoy a casual game of pool.  Mommy and Daddy to be wanted to include shower games, but were unsure how their guests would react.  For this reason, passive guessing games were incorporated into the party, as well as a wishing well which allowed guests to provide advice for these first time parents.

A carribbean casual buffet menu was selected for this afternoon luncheon which included both hot and cold items.  Among other items, our hosts selected   Grilled Cilantro Lime Shrimp; Tomato, Mozzerella and Fresh Basil salad; and Pinwheel sandwhiches accompanied with Roasted Red Potato Salad.  For dessert, our hosts opted for seasonal fresh fruit, and sent each of their guests home with a special treat of Fireman Derek’s Key Lime Pie.
